Oral snuff in which tobacco, moisturizers, sodium carbonate, salt (sodium chloride), sweeteners and flavourings are mixed to form a moist product, resulting in very low concentrations of tobacco-specific nitrosamines.
Snus is usually flavoured, but not always. Use usually results in blood nicotine concentrations at least as high as smoking tobacco. They often come in permeable pouches. It is commercially prepared and is consumed by holding in the mouth for 30 minutes or more and does not require chewing, sucking or spitting.
