A smokeless tobacco-containing product that is designed for oral use, in which tobacco leaves are crushed and boiled into a sticky, heavy black liquid, which is allowed to mature and seasoned with different ingredients (that vary according to region) to create a tobacco-based paste.
Chimó is produced by small family-operated factories or industrially manufactured, and used by placing a small amount between the lip or cheek and the gum and left there for some time (usually 30 minutes), after which it is spit out.
